Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III – Located on the legendary Rutherford bench, this 300-acre site was once home to BV’s Georges de Latour Private Reserve made by renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. Planted with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, wines from this historic vineyard have long received wide acclaim. Boich Family Cellar is proud to continue the legacy of crafting world-class wines from this esteemed site.
Rutherford AVA – Rutherford is home to some of the most prominent wineries and vineyards. Lying low on the valley floor, this region is composed of well-drained gravel, loam and sand, all of which contribute to the area’s distinguished “Rutherford Dust” terroir. Rutherford Cabernets display great elegance, full-bodied flavor and dusty tannins.
Vintage Notes – The 2021 Napa Valley vintage is predicted to be one of the finest in decades. Amid drought conditions, the growing season brought cool nights and sunny, moderate days with few heat spikes, leading to low crop yields and intense concentration of flavor. The berries were packed with color, tannin and flavor, all of which contribute to a stunning vintage from both the Napa Valley mountains as well as the valley floor. The wines are well-structured and powerful while showcasing a beautiful bright acidity and energy. Will age well for decades to come.
Tasting Notes – Initially somewhat closed, the wine gradually opens to reveal incredibly complex aromas of dark cherry, black currant, ripe raspberry, and traces of vanillin oak. The palate is remarkably rich, dense and structured with superb fine-grained tannins, and concludes with a long, elegant finish that immediately begs for another glass. Lovely now, you’ll be happily rewarded watching this wine evolve over the next 20 to 25 years. Marvelous!
Accolades – 2021 Jeb Dunnuck, 95+ | Blackcurrants, ripe tobacco, chocolate, and lead pencil notes, as well as ample Asian spice, all emerge from the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III, a full-bodied Cabernet that’s concentrated, has plenty of mid-palate depth, building, firm tannins, and a great finish. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 20-25 years or more.
2019 Jeb Dunnuck, 97 | The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Vineyard is terrific and up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. All Cabernet aged in new barrels, it has a beautiful array of darker currants, chocolate, truffly earth, and tobacco leaf on the nose. This carries to a quintessential, full-bodied, ripe, yet classically built Cabernet with ripe tannins and a great finish. It doesn’t have the sweetly fruited, hedonistic style of the To Kalon and is a classic expression of this vineyard. Drink it over the coming 15 years as well.
