Wall Road Terrace, Mount Veeder
2021 SYRAH
AVA: Mount Veeder
Vineyard: Wall Road Terrace
Winemaker: Jeff Ames
Cooperage: 22 Months French Oak, Taransaud and Darnajou
Wall Road Terrace – This mountain gem is located at the northern tip of the Mount Veeder AVA, due west of Oakville and the To Kalon vineyard. True to the Veeder AVA, this site delivers both power and elegance. The elevation, slope orientation and well-drained soils yield fully ripened small berries with concentrated flavor.
Mount Veeder AVA – Known for its acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, this illustrious appellation produces graceful, expressive and world-renowned wine. Limited by nature, Mount Veeder’s rugged mountain terrain, high elevation and cooling influence from the San Pablo Bay allows for a long growing season that returns low, sought after yields. This results in powerful fruit with distinct berry flavors.
Vintage Notes –The 2021 vintage is predicted to be one of the finest in decades. The growing season brought cool nights and moderate sunny days leading to berriespacked with color, tannin and flavor – all of which contribute to a stunning vintage from both the Napa Valley mountains and valley floor. The wines are well-structured and powerful while showcasing a beautiful bright acidity and energy. Will age well for decades to come.
Accolades – 2021 Wall Road Terrace Syrah
Jeb Dunnuck, 97 | The inky-hued 2021 Syrah Wall Road Terrace comes from a site on Mount Veeder and spent 22 months in barrel. It’s an utterly awesome Syrah with loads of ripe black fruits, spring flowers, camphor, bacon fat, and sagebrush all emerging on the nose. This carries a full-bodied, concentrated, opulent Syrah offering ripe tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. If given the chance, don’t miss it.
