AVA: Napa Valley
Winemaker: Jeff Ames
Cooperage: 22 Months French Oak, Taransaud and Darnajou
Perennius – Crafted from the best barrel selections of our portfolio, Perennius captures the greatest qualities of our 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
Napa Valley AVA – One of the world’s premier wine regions, Napa Valley brings the ideal combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology, providing excellent consistency vintage-to-vintage. Flanked by the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges, distinct microclimates and terrains can be found throughout the valley, allowing for a wide range of world-class grape varieties with distinct, recognizable qualities.
Vintage Notes –The 2021 Napa Valley vintage is predicted to be one of the finest in decades. Amid drought conditions, the growing season brought cool nights and sunny, moderate days with few heat spikes, leading to low crop yields and intense concentration of flavor. The berries were packed with color, tannin and flavor, all of which contribute to a stunning vintage from both the Napa Valley mountains as well as the valley floor. The wines are well-structured and powerful while showcasing a beautiful bright acidity and energy. Will age well for decades to come.
Accolades – 2021 Perennius Cabernet Sauvignon | Robert Parker Wine Advocate, 98 points
There are just 100 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Perennius, a best-barrel selection by Winemaker Jeff Ames that never amounts to more than four barrels. Bottled just two days prior to our tasting, it was singing, brimming with sophisticated aromas of black cherries, licorice, dried spices and loamy earth. It’s full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a long, velvety finish. When you consider the single vineyards Ames can choose from, it’s no wonder that this wine is perennially the winery’s top-rated offering.
