AVA: Napa Valley
NVS – Napa Valley Select
Winemaker: Jeff Ames
Cooperage: 22 Months French Oak, Taransaud and Darnajou

Napa Valley Select – Sourced from select vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley, the NVS blend captures the best characteristics and qualities of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Napa Valley AVA – One of the world’s premier wine regions, the Napa Valley Appellation brings the ideal combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology, providing excellent consistency vintage-to-vintage. Flanked by the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain ranges, distinct microclimates and terrains can be found throughout the valley, allowing for the growth of a wide range of world-class grape varieties with distinct, recognizable qualities.

Vintage Notes – Heavy winter rainfall in 2017 pulled vines out of their years-long drought leading to significant vegetative growth in the vineyards. Extreme heat spikes occurred throughout the summer, resulting in smaller clusters with extreme flavor concentration. As fall cooled, ripening slowed, allowing grapes to mature with excellent aromatics, great acidity and intense flavor.

Wine Maker Notes – NVS is synonymous with power, complexity and purity of expression. Fresh farmers market blueberry and blackberry dance alongside summer strawberry and Madagascar vanilla bean. The palate boasts more plush fruits with the addition of cigar box and Colombian coffee bean. Textured and full-bodied, notes of stone fruit linger well beyond the finish of this stunning Napa Cabernet. A wine that will drink well on release but can be aged for some time as well.

2017 NVS, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Jeb Dunnick 94 – A Napa AVA wine, the 2017 NVS is another deeply hued effort in the Boich Family lineup and offers a pure, brilliant display of blue fruits, spring flowers, bouquet garnet, violets and white chocolate. With remarkable purity, full-bodied richness, plenty of underlying tannins (ripe tannins) and a solid finish. This beauty is going to benefit from just a short-term cellaring and cruise for 15-20 years or more.

2017 NVS, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 94 – Deep garnet-purple in color the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon NVS features spice box, dried herbs, tobacco and tilled soil over a core of blackberry preserves, crème de cassis and preserved plums. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with lovely freshness and plenty of ripe black fruits, finishing long and spicy.
