Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper

2018 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
AVA: Napa Valley
Vineyard: Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper
Winemaker: Jeff Ames
Cooperage: 22 Months French Oak, Taransaud and Darnajou

Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper – One of Napa Valley’s oldest vineyards, Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper yields ripe fruit full of balance and power. Perfectly trellised vines soak up morning fog from the San Pablo Bay, while the robust foliage of the vines protect growing clusters from summer heat. Today the vineyard is planted with some of the valley’s most preeminent Cabernet clones.

Oakville AVA – Lying along the valley floor, Napa Valley’s Oakville AVA brings the best of climate, soil and topography to wine growing. Beyond terroir, Oakville is lined with family-owned vineyards, meticulous farmers and winemakers. Fertile soils promote world-class grape growing conditions, while warm summers and dry, cool autumns are perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage Notes – 2018 saw bud break, flowering, and harvest later than normal. A mild summer with no noteworthy heat spikes meant generous sunny days and cooler marine influences. Extended fall sunshine created ideal conditions and allowed for extended hangtime as the grapes developed amazing phenolics and flavors. This vintage will likely be rated among the best in the past 20 years.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous – “Napa Valley experienced two stunning back-to-back vintages in 2018 and 2019 the likes of which I have never seen. Both vintages produced a bevy of breathtaking wines that will thrill Napa Valley fans”

Wine Maker Notes – The 2018 Missouri Hopper highlights the beauty and supple palate characteristic of this iconic site. The wine shows Indian spices, cassis, menthol, tobacco and a long, elegant finish. Drink now with a hearty decant or cellar for 15-20 years. Balance and concentration are evidence of the long life this wine has ahead of it.
