Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III – Located on the legendary Rutherford bench, this 300-acre site was once home to BV’s Georges de Latour Private Reserve made by renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. Planted with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, wines from this historic vineyard have long received wide acclaim. Rutherford AVA – Rutherford is home to some of the most prominent wineries and vineyards. Lying low on the valley floor, this region is composed of well-drained gravel, loam and sand, all of which contribute to the area’s distinguished “Rutherford Dust” terroir. Rutherford Cabernets display great elegance, full-bodied flavor and dusty tannins.

Vintage Notes – 2018 saw bud break, flowering and harvest later than normal. A mild summer with no noteworthy heat spikes meant generous sunny days and cooler marine influences. Extended fall sunshine created ideal conditions and allowed for extended hangtime as the grapes developed amazing phenolics and flavors. This vintage will likely be rated among the best in the past 20 years.

Wine Maker Notes – This great Napa Cabernet Sauvignon finds its place among the world’s best wines because of the awe-inspiring juxtaposition of strength and elegance. The 2018 Georges III personifies this perfectly. A broad and growing aroma of black cherry and summer strawberry preserves is wrapped in notes of semi-sweet chocolate and dried currant. Full bodied yet agile and expressive, the palate is laced with red and black fruits, toasted oak and sweet tobacco. The lingering finish is rounded out with ripe but fine tannins, characteristic of the Rutherford AVA. A wine to decant and enjoy now, or cellar for decades.

 Jeb Dunnuck, 95+ | The 2018 Georges III vineyard is another more than noteworthy wine in the Boich Family line up. Lots of classic Cabernet notes of darker currants, damp earth, chocolate, and tobacco notes give way to a full-bodied wine that has lot of richness and depth while staying nicely balanced and light on its feet. It builds nicely with time in the glass, and while not a true blockbuster, it shines for its classic character and overall balance. It’s beautifully done and is going to evolve for 20-25 years.
